The Technology Association for North Texas (also known as Tech Titans) recognized the Collin College Electronic Engineering Technology program and Dean Tripat Baweja’s contributions to the program by awarding them the Tech Titans of the Future Award in the college/university category. This award is the largest and most prestigious recognition of technological achievement in North Texas. It celebrates individuals and companies for their outstanding contributions in the community and technology industry.
Emergency Medical Services Professor Dan Frey was recognized by One Tribe, a veterans’ mental health organization, for his outstanding contributions to the mental health and well-being of veterans and first responders.
Respiratory Care Program Director Julie Boganwright, along with full-time faculty professors Chad Essary, Dawn Headrick, and Kelley Reynolds, attended the Texas Society for Respiratory Care Conference in Irving from Aug. 4-6, along with 15 first-year students.
- Student Kenna Carruthers won a Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas grant for $4,000.
- Student Trinity Leddy won a Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas grant for $2,000.
- The Collin College Sputum Bowl team, which included Collin College students Kenna Carruthers, Brittan Erwin, Paul Macmillan, and Abby Smith, won the Texas Sputum Bowl competition (out of 14 total teams). They will advance to the national competition taking place in New Orleans this November.
- Student Kenna Carruthers placed second in the poster presentation competition, and student Emma Rinconplaced third.
Collin College nursing students Jenny Knippel and June Harriford-Keller were recognized by HCA Healthcare and awarded the Flowerbud Award. This award celebrates student nurses who exemplify compassion, empathy, and professionalism in nursing.
Pastry Arts student Hayden King has had an exceptional year representing Collin College. King was named the 2025-26 Texas Chefs Association (TCA) Dallas Chapter Student Chef of the Year, earning eligibility to compete for the statewide title. After earning medals in multiple TCA and SkillsUSA competitions, Chef Torian Jenkins, former Texas Chef of the Year, hand-selected him to serve as his commis apprentice at the 2026 American Culinary Federation National Competition in Michigan. Together, they earned second place, finishing just four points behind the national champions.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program graduated 14 students in August. The cohort achieved a 100% pass rate on all registry exam attempts, maintaining a 100% pass rate for the program since its inception.
The Collin College Police Department was awarded a $26,000 grant from the Office of the Governor to purchase body armor, better preparing officers to respond effectively to emergency situations.
