CougarWorks Internships
Build your résumé and earn $15/hour with CougarWorks, Collin College's paid internship
program. Gain career-focused experience, work with a professional mentor, and develop

Student Employment Requirements
- All student employees must maintain satisfactory academic progress with a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 at Collin College.
- Some positions may require a higher GPA depending on department or role.
Fall & Spring Semesters
- Student employees (including Work Study and CougarWorks interns) must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
- Exceptions: Non-Work Study students in their final semester may be eligible with fewer than 6 hours if they are graduating.
- Work Study students must remain enrolled in at least 6 credit hours—no exceptions allowed.
- International students must maintain 12 credit hours, unless it is their final semester or they have prior approval from the International Student Office.
- Students enrolled in fewer than 6 credit hours (under approved exceptions) may be subject to Medicare and a part-time employment retirement plan.
- Enrollment status is monitored throughout the semester to ensure ongoing eligibility.
Summer Term
- Returning student employees who worked during the Spring may continue working through Maymester and June 30 without 6 credit hours, but will be taxed accordingly. To work in Fall, they must be enrolled in 6+ credit hours by July 1.
- Returning Work Study students may continue working with 1 credit hour for Summer. However, 6+ Fall credit hours are required by July 1 to maintain eligibility.
- New student employees must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during Summer to be eligible for employment. After July 1, enrollment in the upcoming Fall semester is required.
Acceptable Summer Enrollment Combinations:
- 6 hours in Summer III
- 3 hours in Maymester + 3 hours in any Summer term
- 6 hours in Summer I or II
- 3 hours in Summer III + 3 hours in Summer I or II
- Work Study students must qualify for work study through Financial Aid.
- A final WS award authorization is required before a job offer can be extended.
- WS students receive a specific financial award and may work until that amount is earned.
- Once funds are fully earned, students must stop WS employment or continue under departmental funding.
- Students must monitor their earned hours and remaining award balance closely.
- Eligible WS students can apply for both WS and non-WS positions through the student job portal.

• All students with Collin including International Students and Work Study can qualify for an Intern position.
• Intern students will be assigned a mentor in the Collin College department who will
help facilitate skills, knowledge, and abilities development.
• Same rules and regulations must be met in regard to Work Study and International
Students.
• Must remain enrolled in 6 or more hours, unless it is the student's graduating semester
and/or approval is obtained.

Students who meet eligibility guidelines may apply for a variety of on-campus student employment opportunities. Human Resources assists hiring managers and students with student employment and federal work study processes, procedures, systems and records relating to on-campus student employment.
